Book Review #4- "It's Not How Good You Are, It's How Good You Want To Be" by Paul Arden

Reading Challenge Category:

Book Title: "It's Not How Good You Are, It's How Good You Want To Be"
Author: Paul Arden
Date Published: 2003
Publisher: Phaidon

Another good inspirational book for business minded people, it is not only inspiring but also very entertaining in a way. It is very easy to read with various illustration. The book is written by a famous advertising persona, Paul Arden, he made this book patterned like how Sun Tzu's the Art of War (in my future read list...) as a lesson to business strategy rather than fighting in a war; so he uses creative processes of a good advertising to compare to business practice. More like a metaphor of business practice (says in the cover of the book...)

Book Review 3- "8 Simple Tips for Young Entrepreneurs" by John Rodica"

" 8 Simple Tips for Young Entreprneurs by John Rodica"

The book is quite concise and easy to read. It is like reading it in a way that you are speaking to the author directly. His advice are very practical and easy to remember. It is a very good book for people who want to start something they wanted to do for a long but couldn't do it because they think too much or afraid that something might go wrong. This book would definitely help them and be inspired with the stories written in this book (no hold bars stories).

Book Review #2: "The First Phone Call from Heaven" by Mitch Albom

The first phone call from heaven by Mitch Albom

Actually this is only the 2nd book that I have read from Mitch Abom, the 1st book was "Have a little faith" which was based on true story. What I like about Mitch Albom is how he incorporates God and spiritual context on his books, also on this book, he added some side stories of Alexander Bell, the known inventor of the telephone, about his invention and his family; and relates it with the story in a very smooth way that the side story and the main story of the book is actually connected to each other and that the side story is actually one of the clues on how you'll know the problem in the story would be solved.

I was actually inspired by this book, it has somehow made me closer to God. I have also noted some inspirational quotes that really struck me, when I was reading this book, hopefully it will also affect other people to.

"Fear is how you lose your life, a little bit at a time, what we give t fear, we take away from faith."
- Robbie Sellers (The first phone call from heaven, Mitch Albom)

"Knowing heaven is what heals us on earth."
- Diane Yelling (The first phone call from heaven, Mitch Albom)

Book Review #1- "20 minute Manager: Managing Projects" by Harvard Business Review Press

I initially started my Reading Challenge for this year last Friday night, I started with this category..

The book that I read is all about Project Management, the book is initially about an overview on how to tackle projects on how to manage and work with other people. Actually the book itself can be read as fast as 20 minutes, but I actually read it for several hours. This is a good book for starting freelance artist, interior designers (like me), designers, architects, engineers and many more that do more of a project base works. It is a step by step guide for beginners.
